The Princess and the Pea

Victorian Opera presents Ernst Toch’s presents

The Princess and the Pea

Lights! Camera! Action! Everyone’s favourite fairy tale is heading to the small screen in Vic Opera’s new family production.

Young princess or hopeful TV star? The Princess and the Pea is transported to a modern day television studio on the set of a hit show. Arriving for her first day of filming, our quirky “Princess” must prove herself to her famous colleagues. Filled with stacks of colour, beautiful singing and a live orchestra, this story will teach you not to judge a book by its cover.

Composer Ernst Toch’s musical rendition of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Princess and the Pea receives its Australian premiere. With a cast of opera’s brightest talent, Libby Hill returns to direct this fun family production following Hansel and Gretel, Alice’s Adventures in Operaland and Cinderella.

Sung in German with English narration and scene descriptions.
