Arts Centre Melbourne and summertime family-fun go hand in hand.

Our latest program for Summer and Autumn is full of imaginative experiences to inspire families to interact, connect and discover together.

There’s plenty of playful, creative adventures to be had in the theatres and around the many nooks and crannies of the Arts Precinct. Experience free family events with a flock of ‘sheep’ on the Arts Centre Melbourne Lawn in Les Moutons, or if you love to build things you can contribute to the creation of a mega mini-city from recycled materials in Imaginary Architecture.

Revel in a visual feast of umbrellas, kites, balloons and snow (yes, we know it’s summer!) in the internationally acclaimed American show Air Play, unleash your creative side with an interactive workshop at The Channel, or witness the ultimate hip hop ritual with Cypher.

To top it all off, you can embark on a sea journey never to be forgotten with Cerita Anak (Child’s Story). Bustling with all the life of the ocean, this delightful show is a part of Asia TOPA – an exciting new festival celebrating Australia’s connections to contemporary Asia.

Everyone’s welcome. See you there!

Age Recommendation
Arts Centre Melbourne provides age recommendations for all family performances. This is designed to help children and families get the most out of their experience. We work closely with the creators of the performances to determine a suitable age recommendation, however it is ultimately up to the parent’s discretion.

Babes in Arms
We welcome people of all ages to experience Arts Centre Melbourne’s events, facilities and services. For the majority of events held at Arts Centre Melbourne, children who have not yet turned two years old may be admitted into an event at no cost and without a ticket. In these cases, children will not be allocated a seat and must be seated on the lap of a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.

Some events do require children under the age of two to be admitted with a ticket - particularly for performances programmed specifically for this age group. If this is the case, this requirement will be clearly stated on the event’s webpage. If you would like further clarification, please check the website or enquire with our team when booking. Arts Centre Melbourne is a place for everyone in the community to enjoy.

When bringing children to the Centre, we request that you consider the interests and enjoyment of other visitors. Any person (regardless of age) interrupting the enjoyment of other visitors may be asked to leave an event and/or the venue. As per our conditions of entry, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
